At the 2025 Surfguitar101 Convention, Bob Dalley was selling a lot of his miscelleanous surf memorabilia. Among them was a bunch of cassette and VHS tapes that nobody was touching. A bunch of them seemed interesting, so I decided I'd grab some and digitize what I can. This was among them.
Merrell Fankhauser got his start in the surf band The Impacts, which is featured pretty heavily here, but is also pretty well-known in psych circles for his later work. I'm not sure what sort of airing this tape got or if there were more episodes made. This one features live footage from Dick Dale, Jon & The Nightriders, The Mermen and a few, um, play-along tracks where the audio is clearly from studio recordings. Interviews include Jon Blair, The Revels, Mike Love, and Bob Dalley.
Admittedly I haven't gotten permission from Merrell to upload this. I looked for contact info but his facebook page was the closest I could find and it seemed pretty dead. It's not the best quality, and I tried to clean it up as best I can. Anwyay, enjoy.
