Arno de Cea & the Clockwork Wizards release Flash Freezing the Sun

Arno de Cea & the Clockwork Wizards - Flash Freezing the Sun

With no releases from Arno de Cea in either the Clockwork Wizards or the Irradiates, 2016 felt kinda... safe (though did his best). He's back though, with another album of impossibly huge guitars and apocalyptic panic.

Flash Freezing The Sun picks up where  left off. Leave the beach towels out home; the growling tank-tread bass and heavy distortion sometimes push this into metalgaze/post-metal territory, but it still finds it ways to super-speed reverbed sound that we're familiar with from him. To me this record really hit its stride around the surprisingly groovy yet still mean "Extropie Boogie" and probably reaches peak world-ending frenzy around "Planète Antichromatique" which is classic Arno De Cea with an extra layer of wild electronic skittering.

It comes down to this: If you haven't heard Arno De Cea, fix that. He's easily on the instro A-List, especially if you like it aggressive, punk-styled, or Man or Astro-Manny. If he's too much for you, then this will absolutely still be the case. If you're already a fan... this may be a little bit early after one listen... this might be his best so far.

This one's on bandcamp for free - or if you're a weirdo that still has to own things (like me) you can get it on vinyl and CD.
